An Ta 

An Ta is 21 years old, but will eventually turn 22 in August. His major is microbiology. An considers himself full Vietnamese. He was born in Vietnam, but arrived at America at the age of six. His family settled down in Davis, Ca. for 9 years. An considers Davis his hometown. The reason why An joined VSA was because he didn't want to lose his Vietnamese language as well as his culture. He also feels a connection being around other Vietnamese students. From VSA, An hopes to gain confidence when saying, "Hi, my name is An and I'm Vietnamese." with a lot pride. A goal An is looking forward to do after graduation is join the Peace Corp. An life goal is to save as many lives as possible before he dies. An knows that his goals will be very hard to achieve, but he have lots of role models which composed mostly of this family members. For fun, An do a lot of things. He likes to go fishing with his father and gardening with his mother. He loves to strum his guitar, especially during stress moments or during homework breaks. An also like to go surfing at Torrey Pines as well as snorkeling at Jallo Cove. He loves nature and would rather be outside than inside. Hiking and jumping on rocks is one of his greatest hobbies. An also collects tropical fish for his aquarium; right now he is trying to get as many fish that belongs to the characidae family as possible. An also enjoys listening to music. He listens to all kinds, especially country music cause he grew up with it. His favorite band is Relient K. Besides music, he loves to watch Disney movies. He also likes to read a good book once in awhile. His favorite book is The power of One.
